Draft Management Plan Review
Developed through an extensive public process, the Draft Management Plan (DMP) included input from stakeholders and the sanctuary advisory council (SAC) since 2008. Specific areas of interest included in the DMP are:
- a focus on awareness of site resources and regulation via an enhanced education and outreach campaign;
- continued artifact restoration and conservation;
- attention to the Monitor National Marine Sanctuary SAC recommendation that the site consider expansion of current boundaries to include additional maritime heritage resources; and
- an increased partnership with the state of North Carolina to strengthen local economies in coastal communities through heritage tourism.
